Acts 15:36-16:10
Pastor Ed begins the second Missionary Journey of Paul. However, before the journey begins a sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas divides the duo. Since John Mark did not complete the first missionary journey, Paul refuses to take him along on the second. Barnabas and Paul disagree on the matter. But we need to be clear, the issue is not salvation, it's more of trust and maturity. Paul is worried John Mark will desert again if things get tough. Paul leaves with Silas and travels to reinvigorate those of the first missionary journey. Are we investing in others and not just doing a one-and-done approach to discipleship and evangelism? Paul encounters Timothy and Timothy is circumcised so that the Jews will not discredit Paul and the message. Are we willing to remove stumbling blocks before they happen? We see Paul and his faith in God when doors shut and others open when he is jailed and beaten in public. Yet, prison doors open and salvation comes to homes because of what happens in the journey.
