Lessons from the Sermon on the Mount

Mar 23, 2025    Pastor Ed Rinehart

No matter the amount of grace needed to correct the sin and agony in our lives, we all end up at the same starting spot. We are justified with Christ and set apart for God and His work.

As we come to the passage of Matthew 5 - 7 we need to look at this section of the Sermon on the Mount as a teaching resource or class one for new disciplemakers. In teaching confirmation class - I call these the Be-Attitudes. Attitudes we are to have and I see them as progressive. As we grow in the first, we work on the second attitude, and so forth. These are repeated and strengthened as we grow in our maturity and understanding of Christ in our own lives.

In covering 3 chapters of Matthew, and the behaviors that we are supposed to exhibit, what are you going to do with it? Are you going to be a wise builder or a foolish builder? Are you building on the foundation of Jesus? Or are you building on yourself? Are you going to walk out the door and do the same thing? Or are you going to walk out the door and be fruitful?
