The Baptism by John, the Blessing of God
The Lenten Season began this past Wednesday and will continue until Easter on April 20th. During this time we are to prepare the way of the Lord in our own lives. Just as John the Baptist was calling for people to repent and then make straight the paths for Christ in our lives, so are we to do the same. We need to humbly submit to Christ. We need to begin cleaning a path for Christ to move in our lives.
Jesus was baptized to fulfill righteousness, to show obedience to God, and to set an example for others while serving as a sign to John and future believers that He was the Messiah.
When we desire to live righteous, honest, obedient lives for God through the power of Christ, we will hear words similar to those the Father said as Jesus arose from the waters of baptism. The challenge that we face is our willingness to remain grafted into the branch, which is Christ, so that we may produce fruit, fruit that will last.
