Inviting, Welcoming, Feeding, Restoring and Equipping

We have to spend time in God's word to be equipped by it to do the work we are called to do. If we are not equipped, then we can not do the work.

Jesus enters the wilderness in Matthew chapter 4 following His baptism and spends 40 days fasting, praying, and seeking God. Jesus was tempted by Satan in three different ways, but knowing God's Word equipped Jesus to defeat Satan's schemes.

Jesus began preaching and inviting others to something better. We need to do the same thing. We need to invite people to begin the process and encounter the living God. Jesus invited and welcomed men who had been rejected by other teachers. Jesus invited, welcomed, and started to feed them spiritually. Jesus then taught disciples the invite, welcome, feed, and restore, and equipped them to do the same work. He called them to be fishers of men.

Are you called to fish for people today? As Jesus prepared to leave, He didn't abandon the disciples, but He prayed for their success. For all of those who would believe in Christ through their message.

We are called to equip one another for the kingdom of God. We are called to invite, welcome, feed, restore and equip others to become believers, followers, disciples, mentors and ambassadors. In order to make disciples we have to be disciples. We can't fish for people unless we have been caught. Caught up in the love of Christ and have decided that we will follow Him forever.
